1st Grade Bible Presentation

I just have to share this!
Jack was presented a Bible by our pastor Sunday morning.  It is a tradition for each child who moves up into the first grade to be given a Bible.

Jack took his Bible everywhere we went today.  He was very proud that he knew where Matthew was in the Bible.  (He put a bookmark there so he could show everyone!)  He has also been very angry when Sophia doesn't want to see his Bible.  He tells me that she is being very naughty since she doesn't want to look at "THE BIBLE."

Jack and Sophia were playing Bible trivia in the car today.  Jack would ask her questions and see if she knew the answers.  I was enjoying listening to them go back and forth with a lot of good questions and answers.  I tried hard not to laugh when Sophia accidentally called John the Baptist, John the Basket.
Love those kids!

Beautiful You

Last night I attended a ladies dinner event with two of my lovely friends, Amanda and Vivian.   (I hate it when I blink! I didn't want to ask some lady to keep retaking it!)

My church holds these dinners two to four times a year.  Last night's theme was Beautiful You.  The room was packed with 450 ladies, give or take a few.

The guest speaker was Sherry Johnston from season 9 of The Biggest Loser.  She is a lovely christian lady who is using her new found fame to tell others of her love for Christ.  The panel of speakers also included a fitness trainer, a nutritionist, and the owner of Glo (gloskincare.com).

It was a good reminder for me to keep eating healthy, and keep feeding my family healthy.

The best part was when I won a door prize!  I thought I had won a book and hairspray.  When I got home and found all of this, I was really excited!!  Sophia wore my bracelets around today.  She was pretty excited about my win.

New Hair

I went to get my hair cut yesterday.  I looked online for some pictures of what might be some possibilities.  Eric got involved?!?  This was all very unusual.  As I paged through celebrities looking for a muse, Eric pointed to Julia Roberts.  What?  That one?!?  I am fairly certain that he has never liked curly hair a day in his life.
So I head to my appointment and describe the wavy Julia look I was going for.  So, this is what it turned out to be.

I like it.
I came home and felt good about it.
Then Eric came home.
He wasn't so sure about it...
Well, at least it was fixed for Girls Night!

A blog of my own!

How does one begin?  Where do I start to tell you of the daily drama that is our life?  It seems that our life has been a constant run for the last 5 or 6 years.  Hmm... I guess that was when we moved to our new home and found out we were going to have a baby.  Eric, my husband, is a hard working man whom I have had the privilege of being married to for 12 years.  We have 2 neat kids, Jack and Sophia, which are always into something.  I went from a third grade teacher to a stay at home mom in a matter of 8 months.  I have been trying for the last 6 years to get a handle on this new job.

We just started our second year of homeschooling.  The kids jumped back into it like it was nothing.  Jack even told me that he thought he hated school, but he really likes it.  :)
Sophia is starting kindergarten this year.  She thinks she's BIG stuff.  She is all about getting up early and getting dressed up for school.  Jack is just the opposite.  He has to be drug out of bed with the promise of some yummy food.
I am enjoying the school routine too.  Since we do a video curriculum from Abeka Academy, I get to do my Bible reading while the kids do their Bible class.  It is amazing how the old fashioned flannelgraph still captivates kids today.

Grandma came for a visit yesterday.  The kids had so much fun with her.  We were all sad when she had to go this morning.  She left the kids plenty of books to keep them busy until we get to see her again.  Thanks Grandma!

Jack has a back to school party at church tonight.  He is loving the new activities that he gets to participate in this year since he's a first grader.
