War Eagle Craft Show

No year is complete without a trip to the War Eagle Craft Show.  This year was no different.  And after every year, Melissa and I wonder why we thought it would be fun to take seven kids to a crowded craft show.  Well, someday we may have an answer.

The funny thing is, Jack and Sophia were really excited to go.  Of course, Jack mostly had memories of turkey legs, funnel cakes, and popcorn.

Kettle Corn Man!

Sophia has a new dislike for popcorn.  It actually isn't the taste, it's the smell.  Who doesn't LOVE the smell of popcorn??!  She was so happy that she had a stuffy nose that day and couldn't smell the popcorn.  She went to town eating it.

I don't have a good explanation for these chair pictures.  There was a chair sitting on the hillside, and I laughed as each kid had to sit in it as they walked past.

The bridge has new wood.  So much less scary to walk across now.

Jared believes that this is from 1943.  And from the way he knows his history, I think I will take his word for it. :)
This was supposed to be one of those lovely pictures of Jack and Sophia in a picturesque setting.  What I got was a man just to the left of them laughing his head off every time Sophia put her arm around Jack, and he would push her away.  I finally snapped a shot and called it good.
Jack felt that we wasted our time at War Eagle because we didn't buy him the bow and arrows that he wanted.  As I always say, "Maybe next year."

Crafty Ladies

Love my crafty friends!  We got together last Tuesday and glittered the night away!

Everyone's projects turned out wonderful!

Beth worked on a wreath made of tulle...and lots of glitter. :)

Kimberly worked on some adorable fabric pumpkins.

Amy made a Razorback wreath with red and black feathers.

I glittered some acorns and ugly foam pumpkins.

I also started the balloon wreath, but ran out of balloons.  I'll have to revisit this when I get more balloons.

We did good girls!  When's the next craft night?

Homeschool Field Trip!

We enjoyed a day at the Rogers Historical Museum.
You know us homeschool groups when you see us coming.  Unsocialized and awkward around people.  We are really working on that image as you can see.  Ha Ha!

Ok, really!  We had a fun time on our first field trip.  We joined my sister-in-law, Melissa, and her five boys and another friend Danyelle with her four children.  We actually make for a large enough group with just the three families!

Ah, now that is more like the sophisticated group of smarty pants homeschoolers I know.  :)

Here is our museum tour guide for the day.  We thought that she was going to walk around and tell us about things, but she didn't actually show us around.  So, we were on our own, but that was good.  The green building in the back was actually a room the kids could play in.  There were all sorts of old things to explore hands on.

Sophia doing a bit of laundry.
Jack and Caleb working the typewriter.  That one looks like it has seen better days!
The girls are making something yummy!
Jack is trying to crank start an old car engine, while Jared and Levi watch the moving parts.
The kids each got a clipboard with a scavenger hunt paper.  They ran around looking for the items.
Jack and Levi were pretending to be robbing the bank.
Barber Shop Quartet... minus 1
Think, think, think!
All seven cousins in front of Floyd's Barber Shop.
Construction Crew
Mario and Luigi plumbing the sink.

They had so much fun cooking over this big fake stove.

When we were finished at the museum, we went to the park, ate lunch, and played a while.

Except for the part where I asked the kids what they learned in the museum, and they said, "Nothing!", we had a lovely day.

Hogs Vs Bama

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times...

I have not enjoyed a game more than this one in a looong time!

It was such a thrilling first half!  The game started with 3 men parachuting in, which the kids really enjoyed.  Then, with the crowd on their feet, we intercepted the football and quickly made a touchdown!  At that screaming, jumping, wild moment, I remembered that we brought the kids with us....  Ah... Sophia was cowered down in a heap on the seats with her little ear plugs in and her hands over them.

Seventy something thousand screaming fans sounded a lot different than the first game where we sat and cheered like respectable adults.  So for the rest of the quarter I held her in my lap and was thanking the Lord for the big screen!

This was my view for the first quarter.

Pre-game goodness!
Thankful for a well stocked bag of tricks to keep the girl happy!
Eric has a new person to tell all about the plays to...I'm finally getting good at it...  Was that a scream pass??  ha!  One of my finer moments!

Grandpa and Grandma drove the truck up from Mississippi.  They have the coolest bed cover!  It is also fun to play under!  We had a wonderful day at the game!  Sad that the Hogs lost, but they played some exciting football!
GO HOGS!
